Richmond is known for its culinary quality and variety and Steveston is huge part contributor to this reputation. Obviously seafood comprises the bulk of restaurant offerings in Steveston, but make no mistake essentially every other category of food is available in the area. Check out all the food, bakery, desert and dining options below!

Gudrun

Tucked away in a secluded alcove off of Moncton Street, Gudrun is so unassuming you will actually miss it if you blink. Reminiscent of Gastown’s thriving wine bar offerings, Gudrun dares to deliver an unparalleled collection of wine, artisanal cheeses, charcuterie and homemade fare. Inside, guests are surrounded by curious design and thoughtful ingredients – everything is a conversation piece. If you have any questions about the décor, the food or, pretty much anything really, feel free to ask Patrick (the Owner) - his quirky sense of humor is the perfect pairing for any wine.

A far – and I mean FAR – cry from Steveston’s notorious ‘Fish & Chips’ reputation, this cozy tasting room invites its patrons to create their own menu of incredible daily specialties including homemade soups, divine entrees and heavenly desserts. At this joint, being social is IN and tartar sauce is OUT!

Blue Canoe

Jutting out over Steveston Harbor, the Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant is the perfect spot to catch some local seafood and stellar views.  The Cape Cod–inspired interior is right from the pages of Cottage Life Magazine – one wouldn’t be surprised if Martha Stewart jumped out from behind a booth to join you for a clambake!  Bright and open, this locale is great no matter what the weather.  Should you visit on a sunny day, the riverside patio is a great place to relax, enjoy a micro-brew and watch over the docks to see who actually knows how to park a boat!

Service is typically top-notch and ‘must try’ items include; ‘Dockside Dip’ (a naughty comob of local seafood, cheeses and spinach), the wonton Crab Cakes and the ‘Sablefish Linguini’.  Should you have room to spare, the Lemon Meringue Pie is absolutely, no holds barred, the best in the Lower Mainland (baked fresh daily!).

Village Sushi

Located at the very south end of No. 2 Rd, the Village Sushi Restaurant is truly a hidden gem.  Run by a young Japanese couple (Takka and Mari), this tiny establishment creates the most delicious (and fresh) sushi in Steveston.  Although the interior is understated, the food is well worth the visit.  The menu is simple and not overwhelming; every item has been mastered and is prepared with care and precision.  ‘Must try’ menu items include ‘Spicy Tuna Roll’, ‘Mango California Roll’ and any sashimi item on the list.  Prices are extremely reasonable given the high-quality of the food and a take-out menu is available.

Timothy's

Timothy’s is located right alongside the harbor in Steveston Landing.  The pride and joy of Timothy’s is his delicious frozen yogurt which is made to order by manually blending frozen yogurt with your choice of fruit.  Should you be feeling particularly ill-disciplined, you must be sure to order your yogurt in one of Timothy’s handmade waffle cones.  The cones are so good that certain members of our family have been known to go rogue and just order cones (yes, multiple) without yogurt.

Although best-known for frozen yogurt, Timothy’s also has a delicious cappuccino bar, pastry selection and gelato bar.  A few other things to know before you go – you will likely run into regulars who want to know everything about you, be forewarned that they only take cash and yes, there really is a ‘Timothy’.

Sockeye City Grill

Alright, alright.  We know you want to know where to go for great Fish & Chips.  We are bit biased here because, Annemarie (Taylor's Mom, Larry's wife) owns the joint…but we really do think that the Sockeye City Grill has great Fish & Chips!  They also carry a fantastic selection of fresh local seafood including Wild B.C. Salmon, Westcoast Halibut and a crowd favorite, the Fisherman's Pot (an assortment of fresh, local seafood in a tomatoe fennel broth).

Sidled up alongside the river, the Sockey City Grill looks out over Steveston Harbor and offers stunning views from every seat in the house.  The patio is a must on a sunny day no matter what the season.  Stop in and say hi to Annemarie - she's on 5 feet tall so she's easy to miss but would love to say hello!

Steveston Pizza Company

The Steveston Pizza Company is definitely not just another 'pizza joint'. Located in a tiny space on the corner of Moncton and 3rd Avenue in Steveston Village, this place serves the best pies in Richmond, if not the Lower Mainland. The menu offers classic combinations as well as creative arrangements that you may have never thought to try. If you are looking for a thick, greasy pizza with an overload of toppings, this is not the place to go. Each recipe has been thoughfully composed, served on a delicate crust and made with incredibly fresh ingredients. The Biggars are regular patrons (too regular) of this spot and we highly recommend the 'Fifth Element' and 'Blue'.

Kisamos Greek Taverna

Duck and cover 'cause the plates might be a flyin'! Kisamos is one of several Greek restaurants in Steveston but probably the most inviting. Family owned and operated, the atmosphere is quaint, cluttered and full of tributes to the homeland - just like any Greek restaurant should be! The menu is predictable however they do the classics well. Guests are served enormous amounts of food that will tip you well off your South Beach Diet (lots of carbs!) and they pack their guests in so it is truly 'family style'! If you're looking for the 'ol standby on a Friday night, Kisamos is your place.

Fisherman's Boot

The cafe has been around since the 80's. Open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, the Boot serves up traditional cafe dishes, such as three-egg breakfast, french toast, hamburgers with fries, sandwiches and southern fried chicken. Nothing new here and don't even think of asking for greens—you know, salads and other such "sissy" stuff. If you must, order the BLT—Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato—sandwich, as that's likely as close you'll get to the veggie patch here. Fridays are seafood chowder and hamburger day, with Thursdays reserved for fish and chips. Famous for "Fisherman's breakfast" for 5 bucks.
