London Landing is one of those special places you visit and say to yourself, ‘is this for real?’. Tucked away at the very South end of No.2 Road in Steveston, London Landing is one of those few remaining, small-town neighborhoods. Surrounded on all sides by sweeping farmland, mountain and river views, it is the ideal combination of rural beauty and contemporary living.

The extraordinary setting of this little spot was first recognized by Charles and William London all the way back in 1877. As most Ontarians eventually realize, the Westcoast is the place to be – so they stayed! The brothers purchased 200 acres of land at the southern foot of No. 2 Rd and aptly named the area ‘London’s Landing’. They eventually settled in and constructed a family home, general store, post office and wharf. The home was passed through the family until 1978 when the City of Richmond purchased the land and dedicated it as a heritage site. The home is now called ‘London Heritage Farmhouse’ and can be found at its original location on Dyke Road.

In keeping with it’s historical roots (less an apostrophe and an ‘s’), the area is still referred to as London Landing. Local developers have transformed the area with a variety of housing types while retaining the uniqueness of this pocket. Potential buyers will find a wide product offering from spacious, high-end condominiums to character townhomes and small single family. As this is one of the highest-end locales in Steveston, prices tend to reflect the superior finishings, thoughtful design and unprecedented waterfront location. While the townhome and single family areas tend to attract families, the higher end condos attract a cross-section of buyers. All homes in this area are relatively new (7 years old or newer). There is also opportunity to purchase a brand new home in this area as several new projects will be launching this Fall.

Living in London Landing means access to a selection of amenities including a neighborhood commercial area. Residents can pick up groceries from the local organic food store, indulge at one of Steveston’s best bakeries or relax at one of two nearby spas. Should you choose to ‘hunt and gather’ your own meal, London Landing is home to Steveston’s only public fishing pier. The area also has direct access to the South Dyke trail which leads into Steveston Village. Local schools include Homma Elementary and McMath Secondary School.
